Fans reeling from the recent news that the White Stripes have officially disbanded should definitely pick up rockabilly legend Wanda “Queen of Rock” Jackson’s new album featuring White’s taught production and immortal axe throughout.

Aptly named ‘The Party Aint Over’, the disk has the feel of a blues brothers style party, a crew of great musicians getting the band back together for a raucous good time, dusting off their favorite tunes and throw down their own renditions.

Just as prevalent as White’s guitar, strong horn work is found throughout, but none of this outshines the 70-something Jackson’s devious-sounding vocals. The material covered is ambitious, featuring such song-writing dynamos as Bob Dylan, and it is no surprise that these first rate artists pull off their versions to perfection, culminating in a downright disturbing performance of Amy Winehouse’s ‘You Know I’m No Good’. Good luck getting your toes to sit still once you start this ‘Party’ . . .
